Carrier Animal Hospital

Hospital Care

In the event that your pet becomes ill or is injured, we are prepared to provide excellent care from the diagnosis of the problem to the treatment of the illness or injury.

Carrier Animal Hospital has an in-house laboratory comprised of the IDEXX Laser Cyte system for CBC's, IDEXX VetTest 8008 for blood chemistries, and the IDEXX Vet Lyte for electrolyte values.

In-house testing for FIV, FELV, Giardia, Heartworm Antigen, and Heartworm Microfilaria are available as well. Blood typing for our feline patients is also on hand.

Also, pressure testing for older animals with glaucoma can be done with the Medtronic Solan Tono-Pen Tonometer. IDEXX Laboratories are used for specialized testing, cytology, and microbiology and provides twice daily pickups. Pal-Path provides most of the histopathology needed for tumor analysis.

Along with its lab equipment, Carrier Animal Hospital also provides a Universal 300mA X-Ray machine and film processor for imaging the internal parts of the body.

Ultrasound equipment with a 5.0, 6.5, and 7.5 megaHertz transducer is on-site to permit imaging of the heart along with most of the abdomen. Telemedicine scanners and computers make the transfer of radiographs, ultrasonic images, ECG, or cytology analysis to a board certified radiologist or pathologist in just a matter of minutes.

An Olympus flexible endoscope enables us to look in your pet's nasal passages, esophagus, trachea, stomach, or colon without surgically entering his/her body.
